Nikitha & Herschel :: A Three-Day Indian Wedding at Park Hyatt Aviara, Carlsbad

Weddings

Some weddings fit inside a single afternoon. Nikitha and Herschel’s asked for three days — three days of color, music, mehndi, and two families slowly becoming one, with the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad holding all of it.

A Celebration in the Aviara Courtyard

The resort’s Spanish-Colonial courtyard did a lot of quiet work all weekend: string lights crossing overhead, a dragon tree presiding over the rose beds, and that graphic tiled fountain anchoring it all. Herschel arrived in an emerald velvet jacket embroidered with trailing leaves, a gold “N” pinned to the lapel — for Nikitha, who answered it in a blush lehenga threaded with rose, sage, and gold, her mehndi still deep from the night before.

The photographs I love most from a multi-day Indian wedding rarely come from the itinerary. They happen in between — a laugh caught on the garden path, a quiet minute at the balcony rail above the palms, the two of them alone at the top of the grand staircase before anyone else found them.

Why Park Hyatt Aviara Works for Indian Weddings

If you’re planning a multi-event South Asian wedding in San Diego, the Park Hyatt Aviara belongs on your shortlist. The resort holds a full wedding weekend easily — lawns and courtyards for a baraat and outdoor ceremonies, ballrooms with room for a few hundred guests, and photo backdrops in every direction: palm-lined drives, arched colonnades, patterned tilework, and golf-course horizons that go soft and golden at sunset. Your guests never leave the property, and your gallery gets variety without a single shuttle ride.
