Danielle & Duncan :: The La Valencia Hotel :: La Jolla, Ca

I look back at Danielle and Duncan’s wedding at the La Valencia Hotel and just smile.  Thats what kind of day it was.  The La Valencia hotel stands in the middle of downtown La http://lajollabythesea.com/Jolla adorning the pacific coastline with her ageless beauty.  First opened in December of 1926, this historic hotel remains as regal and classy as ever. 

My team and I arrived to find a calm and collective bridal suite with Danielle finishing up the last bit of her hair and make up.  We headed over to her room where I saw one of the most unique and touching details I have ever come across in my career.  A note that Danielle’s great grandmother had written her when she was born.  I took the note eagerly, not only to photograph it, but also read it.  She wrote on the note, which had a 1989 penny attached to it, “ this 1989 penny was the year she was born, may she put it in her shoe on her wedding day.”   I was taken back. I scrolled down the note to the postscript.  “ I know I won’t be there to see her but I’ll still be there.”  It was truly remarkable – this beautiful note was written years ago by her great grandmother and safely kept all those years for today.

The rest of the day went perfectly!  It was a glorious celebration of two people falling in love with family and friends coming together.  Smiles and laughter filled the ballroom as the band played on into the night.  I took a moment that night and stepped out of the ballroom onto the outside balcony. I stared out below me to the moon lit waves crashing into the cliffs.  I felt so much happiness.  A wonderful wedding always does that to me.
